Runsense Weekly: A promise your coach can finally keep

By Raph · July 6, 2026

Hey 👋

Here's a good one from this week. One of our beta runners asked four separate times in seven minutes to get his morning check-in moved earlier: "Can you send me my daily routine at 7am EST... I'm already doing my workout or finished with it when you send the reminder." The coach said "got it, I'll send it earlier," then sent it at the exact same time the next two mornings anyway. There was nowhere in the system to actually store that change. The coach made a promise it had no way to keep.

That's fixed now. Just tell your coach the time you want your check-in to arrive, and it'll actually make the change instead of just saying it will. Prefer tapping a screen? You can also set the hour yourself in Settings.

A few more real fixes worth knowing about:

Coach's Corner

The single most common thing beta runners say to their coach isn't a symptom or a stat, it's some version of "I can't run today, can we move it to tomorrow." Good news, that's exactly what the coach is built to do. Tell it what happened (travel, a sore back, a birthday party) and it rewrites the day, sometimes the whole week, around you instead of leaving a red mark on your log.

There's one thing it won't do though: gut an entire week. If a request would wipe out too much of a real training week, say dropping your long run and a key workout in the same breath, the coach will say so and offer real alternatives instead of quietly agreeing and hoping it works out. That's not stubbornness, it's the same judgment a good human coach uses. A wrecked week costs you more than one missed run you rebuild around.
