Privacy Policy

Runsense provides an AI-powered running coach via SMS, email, and the Runsense iOS app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, where it is processed, and the choices and rights you have over it.

Who We Are

Runsense LLC, a Colorado limited liability company ("Runsense", "we", "us", or "our"), provides the service and is responsible for the personal data described here.

Information We Collect

1. Information you provide

2. Apple Health (HealthKit) — iOS app only

When you use the Runsense iOS app and grant HealthKit access, we collect from Apple Health on your device:

This data flows from your device to Runsense via the iOS app's authenticated connection. The Runsense iOS app does not write back to Apple Health; we read only. We collect the workouts present in Apple Health regardless of which app recorded them (for example Apple Watch, COROS, Garmin, or the Strava app writing to Apple Health). When the same workout reaches us from more than one source, we keep one copy and mark the others as duplicates.

3. Strava — only if you connect it

If you choose to connect Strava, you sign in on Strava's own page and grant Runsense access. We never see your Strava password. From then on we collect, for each activity you record:

If you also granted permission to write, we may update the description of an activity you completed. We do not create, delete or otherwise change your Strava activities, and we do not read anyone else's.

You can disconnect at any time, from Connections in the app or from Strava's own settings. Disconnecting stops new activities arriving; the training history already in Runsense stays, because it is the record your coaching is built on. If you want that deleted too, delete your Runsense account, which removes it.

4. Suunto — only if you connect it

If you choose to connect Suunto, you sign in on Suunto's own page and grant Runsense access. We never see your Suunto password. From then on we collect, for each workout you record:

If your Suunto watch also tracks you around the clock, we collect what it measured while you slept, because recovery is part of coaching:

We do not collect the blood-oxygen reading your watch takes at night, even though Suunto sends it to us with the rest. It is not something a running coach needs, so we drop it rather than store it.

We read your workouts only. We do not create, delete or otherwise change anything in your Suunto account, and we do not read anyone else's.

You can disconnect at any time, from Connections in the app or from Suunto's own settings. Disconnecting stops new workouts arriving; the training history already in Runsense stays, because it is the record your coaching is built on. If you want that deleted too, delete your Runsense account, which removes it.

5. Polar — only if you connect it

If you choose to connect Polar, you sign in on Polar's own page and grant Runsense access. We never see your Polar password. From then on we collect, for each training session you record:

We also collect what your Polar device measured while you slept, because recovery is part of coaching and these are the numbers a coach reads to see it:

We do not collect the numbers you typed into Polar yourself — your maximum heart rate, your training thresholds, your resting heart rate setting, your sleep goal or the rating you give a night's sleep. Those are settings rather than measurements, they can be years out of date, and Polar fills some of them in from your age rather than from anything your body did. We would rather have no number than a number your coach could mistake for a measurement.

We read your training sessions only. We do not create, delete or otherwise change anything in your Polar account, and we do not read anyone else's.

Polar makes only the last 30 days of sessions available, and only ones recorded after you connect, so connecting does not bring your older Polar history into Runsense. Sleep and heart-rate measurements go back 28 days, and we read that window when you connect so your trends have something in them from the start.

You can disconnect at any time, from Connections in the app or from Polar's own settings. Disconnecting stops new sessions arriving; the training history already in Runsense stays, because it is the record your coaching is built on. If you want that deleted too, delete your Runsense account, which removes it.

Your health and fitness data is special category data under GDPR / UK GDPR. We process it only with your explicit consent, which you give when you connect Apple Health and can withdraw at any time — see "Legal Bases" below.

6. Automatically collected information

How We Use Information

We use your information to:

Apple Health data

Your Apple Health data is used solely to generate personalized coaching for you. We do not use it to train, improve, or benchmark AI or machine learning models, nor do we use it for product analytics or aggregate research. It is retained as part of your training history; you can delete it at any time (see "Your Rights"). No third-party analytics or advertising service receives Apple Health data.

Legal Bases (GDPR / UK GDPR)

Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:

Withdrawing consent does not affect processing carried out before you withdrew it. If you withdraw consent for your health data, we can no longer generate training-data-based coaching, and we'll tell you what that means for your account.

We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account — in the iOS app under Settings → Account → Delete account, or by contacting us — your data and training history are deleted, and copies in routine backups are purged within 30 days. We retain only what we are legally required to keep.

Automated Coaching

Your coaching is generated by automated AI systems from the information available to them. These systems produce guidance and suggestions; they do not make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects concerning you. Coaching is not medical advice — see our Terms of Service.

Runsense is not directed to, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from, anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of Runsense means you accept the updated policy.
